David Boies argued for then Vice President Al Gore and Barry Richard for then Texas Governor George W. Bush in the Leon County Circuit Court in Tallahassee.

There were a number of lawyers involved and Baker was his chief legal advisor and handled much of the press issues.

Also, a then not so well known attorney by the name of John G. Roberts Jr. was involved in the early legal process.

Barry Richard! You'd think I'd have remembered that one. Anyhow, he is a democrat. Here's the interesting info:

How did we get here anyhow?

It does make the point that we need to be very careful in what we do and say in an exam as there are plenty of lawyers out there who have the ability to twist things in ways we could never imagine.

I think it's a great reason for all of us to join ASTM and follow their standards, since those are the standards we will likely be attacked with should we wind up in the hot seat.

Even if you win in the end, it's a miserable experience. I've never been through it, but I have watched a number of good officers tormented with foolish lawsuits. And George does encourage, among other things, lawsuits.
